Distillery

Distillery is situated at Noorpur, close to the bank of the river Hooghly, near Diamond Harbour at South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. IFB Agro commenced their Distillery operation at Noorpur in 1987 creating a landmark in the industrial resurgence of West Bengal with an installed capacity of 60,000 litres per day based on molasses.

In addition to molasses based distillery, IFB Agro has also set up a new state of the art Grain Distillery in the year 2007 having capacity 60,000 litres per day. The unit is based on latest technological concepts and has deployed modern technologies like vacuum distillation, backpressure turbines, generation of renewable energy like biogas, use of R.O system for water recovery, use of VFD-s for power and energy conservation. The usage of Multicolumn Multipressure Distillation Technology removes all impurities from the distillation process and thus the product Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) meets the exacting specifications of discernable customers.

The distillery generates captive incidental power and has set up auxiliary plants for zero discharge norms as set by authorities of both State and Central Pollution Control Board. The distillery is registered under CDM board of UNFCCC, and was awarded CDM benefits for consecutive two years in 2007-2008 & 2008-2009 for its significant carbon emission reduction program. Since 2009, the distillery was awarded ISO-14001, 2004 certification by M/s DNV against its constant endeavour to improve and implement various environment management programs.

There is a plan for conversion of molasses distillery into a multifeed distillery. Once done the unit is likely to achieve new heights in the years to come.
